We are very conscious of the potential for expeditions to have a significant impact on local communities and environments. We have developed ethical and environmental policies which guide all our projects, such as reducing the effects of carbon dioxide created by international flights by working with 'carbon neutral' charities which focus on tree planting or the promotion of low energy technologies.
Please see our responsible travel policy for more details. In addition to these general actions, for expeditions we also try to:
- Thoroughly educate the team in local culture and customs
- Encourage the team not to accept plastic bags in shop but to use their own rucksack instead
- Encourage all team members to always use their own water bottle and to either purify water or to buy water from water stations rather than buying water bottles
- Buy food in local market places rather than buying packaged food from shops.
