Wildlife Rescue

Becci - Sep 09

"My experience in Thailand was one I will never forget. The wildlife centre was an amazing place to wake up every morning and the people you meet from all over the world will be friends forever! The combined elephant centre is also well worth doing (an offer almost exclusive with PoD). I have missed everything about the centre since I have been home and I cant wait to go back!

Arriving at Bangkok airport, was rather scary to me I'm not going to lie but once I had my baggage I went off to find my taxi driver who was sat waiting for me. The journey to the centre took about 3 hours, most of which I slept unfortunately, but the jetlag and travelling had kicked in. Once we got to the centre, the volunteer coordinator came out to meet me with a big friendly smile and he made me feel welcome straight away. He showed me to my room. My room could sleep up to 4 people but during my stay there were 3 of us sharing. The facilities are basic but that’s what I expected and what the experience is all about. He then showed me around the centre which is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and I thought I would never be able to find my way around......but it all gets easier!

There is a rota that gets changed daily for what duties you are to do that day. If the centre has enough volunteers there are 3 primate groups, 3 bear groups and another wildlife group. During my stay I was able to work on a variety of groups which was a really good experience and you don't end up doing the same job over and over. The routine is roughly the same but varies whether you are on bears or primates.

At the end of the day you have your own time. There's plenty to do though so you will never get bored. We had film nights, game nights and football nights. It’s your experience you have to make it what you want it to be. The village is about a ten minute walk away where there is access to the internet and lots of little shops for snacks and drinks etc.

Because you move around the different sections in the centre you get to work with different people from all over the world and get to know some incredible people that do make friends for life.

If you are prepared to work hard, have a laugh and be part of a team then this is a fantastic opportunity for you.

You get one day a week off which is always welcome. You can have a day off with any friends which you've made while there. The usual places to go are Cha am and Hua Hin. Both are lovely towns to go shopping, have a massage and generally just relax.

The only thing I would recommend is plan your time there wisely as I regret is not staying for longer and not
leaving a bit of time for travelling at the end."

Parnell - Apr 09

"I arrived back in London last week! Missing thailand and the centre alot, especially being woken up every morning by gibbons. Now i have to wake up to traffic jams, congestion and the awful sound of construction work going on LOL.

I also want to thank you for all your help and support you've given me over the past few months, i appreciate everything. I've come back to england with not just happy memories but with new aspirations and goals to fulfil and not to mention i've met some fantastic people."

Jon - Oct 08

"I'm back in the UK now and wish I was still in Thailand! I had a great time at the Wildlife Centre, so thank-you very much for everything you did for the organisation, it went perfectly."

Sara - Oct 08

"Really well thanks, the centre is great and it's fantastic the work that they do. Some amazing (and frankly horrendous) stories to most of the animals here but at least they're in a good place now. It's hard work but keeping me busy! People here are lovely."

Michael - Aug 08

"The work placement was excellent, given set duties for each day, with quite a bit of spare time
which volunteers can spend relaxing etc or doing other work for the centre,as there are many extra jobs which need doing but people volunteer to do without being pressured.

Lovely location, simple yet very appropriate accomodation.

Very good value for money, glad to see the centre getting a good proportion of the funds.

Wonderful place, very helpful and pleasant staff (PoD and the centre).

Excellent experience, will hopefully be returning within the next few years. Thanks very much!"

Laura - Aug 07

"I would like to say a massive thank you for all your help sorting out my placement in Thailand! I had an absolutely amazing time, a truly unforgettable experience!

The Centre was beautiful and the accomodation standard was to be expected, however some rooms were a lot nicer than others.

I felt 4 weeks was a good amount of time to spend on the placement, and excellent value for money.

You meet great people, the centre is amazing, the animals are great and compared to other trips advertised on the Internet, this seemed a lot more personal."

Kate - Jun 07

"More than expected, it was fantastic. Brilliant, got very involved and had an amazing time, even when it was pouring down with rain.

Location was quite remote, accomadation was very basic but good standard, clean. Lots of spiders!

Volunteer coordinator was fantastic as well as other volunteers. Getting to know people who enjoy the same things as me was fantastic, people were great and i still keep in contact with alot of them."

Julie - Mar 07

"Advice for future volunteers, be keen to work and get dirty. I'm also grateful that i took your suggestion with an open return ticket. It allowed me to travel through Thailand, Laos and Australia. Without my time at the Centre i feel i wouldn't have been able to travel, i wouldn't have had the confidence.

I had an amazing time. My experience at the centre was definitely the start of my travel bug. All the best for you and PoD"

Rebekah - Aug 06

"Very rewarding, good value for money, fabulous experience. Thanks for a great time PoD!"

Jane - Oct 05

"Absolutely loved it. Loved working with the animals. I will recommend PoD because I had a brilliant time and will never forget it."

Lena - Jun 05

"The centre location was excellent. Being surrounded by forest gave the feeling of peace & tranquillity. The views were spectacular. The town was only a short walk away. The town people were very welcoming as they knew that you were from the centre. The centre was larger than I first thought. Everybody including Thai workers & volunteers were very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the work and the 6.00am start didn’t bother me. I found the work challenging but extremely rewarding. My experience & knowledge was widened as I encountered new species. The climate did make the work harder but in between jobs was time to have a drink and a rest. As this was a part of my university course I feel that I could share a lot of skills and new knowledge amongst my student friends. The centre has been an amazing experience which has extremely boosted my confidence and independence. If you have a keen interest in helping wild animals then this is the place to go. Everybody at PoD was extremely friendly and wanting to help. Even if you aren’t working in the animal care industry this placement offers so many personal developments."

Robert - Jun 05

"The info packs were very helpful and accurate. We probably wouldn’t of made it there in one piece without it. Very friendly location. Very cheap. The little town and village were lovely. Accommodation was basic but was as I expected. We had a bed and a fan and I was happy with that. The centre was far better than I expected and the work may have been tough but it was rewarding. Most of the other volunteers were nice so it made the days more enjoyable. Jobs varied and you didn’t have to do anything you didn’t want to. The staff were very friendly. I would recommend PoD and I have already as I had the time of my life. If I didn’t have to leave I wouldn’t of."

Olly - Sep 06

"I had so many fantastic experiences, and the centre itself was in an idyllic area, on the grounds of a Buddhist temple. One highlight was spotting wild elephants in a nearby national park, after dark. It was such a thrill to see them without any keepers around. If you are booking this holiday, I think you will find it very easy to get on at the centre. It isn't hard to fit in, perhaps my only tip would be to bring long trousers because the bugs at night are truly a nuisance! The holiday as it is run is a definite benefit to local people; we would by our groceries form the local village, use the internet cafe there and so on. As for the environment, the aim was to help rehabilitate animals native to Thailand for release, so I hope that my time there not only didn't harm the environment, but in fact helped it in some small way."

Tomasz - Jan 05

"I would recommend this placement to anyone who has a love for and interest in animals and who does not mind hard work and getting involved in more than just the basic jobs. I loved it"

Elephant Care

Annie - Feb 10

"Had a great time working with the elephants! A great experience! Loved the centre you feel at home straight away!

A really nice place, great being in a little village as get to feel more of the thai culture! but close enough to towns etc.

PoD was a really helpful agency to go with and the placement was lots of fun and very rewarding plus learnt alot about animal welfare in asia which was great to learn!"

Sue - Sep 09

"Just returned from the Elephant Care in Thailand and want to let you know I have had a Fantastic Trip !!!  I will highly recommend your company to my friends & collegues and hope to use your services again soon.  Everyone at the centre were welcoming and working with the animals was an amazing experience.  Thank you all once again."

Cathy - Feb 09

"I wanted to let you know that the Elephant Project was wonderful.  It was a lovely experience, educational, moving and  a lot of fun.  Two weeks was a substantial amount of time to get used to the routine of each day and to get to know the ele's.  They are beautiful creatures and sometimes cheeky. It was nice knowing that while they're not in the wild (where they should be) their quality of life is far better than if they were on the streets being expolited - it felt good to be part of their lives for a short time, i feel like i've done some good.

I enjoyed the extra duties, including working on the new refuge for the ele's - clearing the land of large rocks, watering the plants around the boundary, clearing the area of any litter.  We scraped and prepared the posts in the old enclosure so they could be repainted.  We managed to get all posts painted by my last day (was my goal to get that complete - i wanted to see the finished product).  The harvesting was hard work, but i enjoy manual labour (a few degrees cooler would've been kinder). Pineapple picking was prickly work, not everyones' favourite  but on reflection we had a laugh at the end of the day.

Meeting other volunteers was also a highlight.  Sara and I got on very well and continue to keep in contact.  We and two others bonded very well and had a lot of fun, our common goal to care for these wonderful animals has brought us together - friendship is a wonderful thing also.

Emma was very welcoming.  As a co-ordinator at the centre i think she does a very good job.  She offers a lot of information and she's open to listening to everyone (and their sometimes controversial opinions), she's open minded and i think that's important.  Emma is a good communicator, the centre needs someone like her.

It was a privilege to meet Edwin.  I say a 'privilege' because i was ignorant to how much this man has actually achieved.  I also found Edwin to be a very good communicator, he's a realist, a very interesting man and funny - it's always nice to see someone who's achieved great things to be very 'human'.

I observed how volunteers come and go, some stay a short time others greater lengths.  Some are extremely passionate, most are there to contribute some good to the lives of all the animals.  At the end of the day i believe every volunteer offers something beyond financial, a human spirit of goodness and kindness. Everyone leaves a little wiser and it's with this knowledge we pass on that others will hopefully do the same."

Sara - Feb 09

"One of the best experiences of my life! Loved the places, loved the elephants and loved the people! It was harded than I expected, mainly because of the weather. However it was worth every minute. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in working holidays."

Sandhya - Jan 09

"I've been meaning to email you! Have been really busy so it's all been dash and go. Having the LOVELIEST time of my life here.. everybody is really friendly and communal living is really working out (despite the cold showers) Its great to be working with a team of such dedicated volunteers in helping animals. And Edwin.. he's amazing in his fervour to save them!I cannot thank you enough for all that you've done, but still thank you very much all the same for being my stepping stone."

Charlotte - Jan 09

"Sawadika! (At least i think thats how you say hello!). Yea we're really enjoying it here, just wish we had chosen to stay longer! The elephants are breath taking and its been amazing getting to know each of them induvidually. I've had the amazing chance to swim with the elephants - something i'll never forget. Meals are excellent and everyones soo friendly including the mahouts who are definitely up for a laugh. We leave Sunday morning very early :( I'm going to be sad to leave, but then its on to the diving!!"

Clare - Nov 08

"Just a quick e-mail to say thank you all your help with my trip to Thailand.  I had the most amazing time, in fact it was life changing!!  I had so many amazing experiences while I was there and they will stay with me for ever. All the information you issued were spot on and things could not have gone to plan any better. Thanks again and best wishes."

Sue - Oct 08

"I really enjoyed my placement - the facilities were much better than i anticipated, staff helpful and friendly - all in all a lovley experience i would like to do again sometime.

I feel very lucky to have worked with these lovely animals - who all definitely have characters/personalities of their own.  Walking with elephants to the forest every day certainly has the edge on walking the dog!!!

I am so pleased to have had the chance to do this work/holiday and wouldn't mind doing it again sometime in the future. It would be lovely to go back and see how the new elephant enclosure develops - i hear from one of the volunteers i worked with that there may already be an additional elephant joining the centre.

I'll have to start saving for my next adventure. Thank you all at PoD for all you help and assistance."

Jim - Oct 08

"I had an absolutely amazing time in Thailand and at the centre and met some great people along the way too, I didn't really want to come back and although I read the part in your info about 'returning home' I didn't quite believe it was true until I experienced it for myself!.

It has given me the travel bug in a big way and I am planning my next trip already!

Thanks again for your help in organizing everything."

Rebecca - Aug 08

"This was an absolute trip of a lifetime. I feel privileged to have worked with such incredible creatures and lovely people. I have so many wonderful memories that will never leave me. I can't believe I have woken up to the sound of the baby elephant trumpeting and the gibbons calling and seen these and more animals as soon as I stepped out the door. The mahouts and other volunteers (from all over the world!) also made this trip particularly unforgettable.I would definately recommend the placement as you will get to see and experience the most amazing things."

Rhoda - Apr 08

"This was my first volunteering 'holiday', but I am converted! I had an absolutely amazing time on my 2 week volunteer placement at the elephant conservation centre and would highly recommend it. Working so closely with the elephants was really rewarding and the mahouts were very welcoming and friendly, as were the other volunteers - they were a very sociable crowd and there were lots of nights out in the nearby town Hua Hin, which served to be a great way to get to know each other!

The work is at times quite physically challenging, although mainly just because its so hot, and its worth noting that the working day can be a little longer than stated, particularly if you have been rota'd for any house duties - although you do get long breaks throughout the day. My partner and I actually found that some of the breaks were at times a little too long, so we volunteered to help with other things around our elephant duties. There are always extra duties that the centre needs volunteers to help with, such as building new enclosures, moving compost, animal enrichments, although obviously its your decision if you'd like to help with these. My partner and I volunteered to help build a new leopard cat enclosure, which we both really enjoyed. The accommodation was basic but comfortable, and it's located on site, so its very convenient - particularly after one of the many nights out in Hua Hin!

I had a truly amazing time and this really was a holiday of a lifetime.. although having said that, I'm already planning to go back!"

Gloria - May 08

"As I ride one of the large Asian elephants, after washing him in the elephant pool, I pass a most beautiful Thailand lake where I can see seven small islands amassed with families of gibbons playing, the sun is shining down, and then following the other elephants I ride slowly deep into the forest.

On my return from the forest where the elephants stay overnight, I walk around the premises where I am staying, where there are gibbons, muscats, porcupines, wild pigs, numerous bears, a tiger called Meow, a crocodile, loris, hornbills, just to mention a few of the animals. Just a normal day at the wildlife sanctuary in Thailand - where else could you have such a unique experience!"

Alison - Jun 08

"I've never had so much fun. I didn't want to leave. Working so closely to such amazing creatures makes you appreciate so much more. The mahouts are characters of their own and I formed a close bond with them that will never leave me. I made so many new friends of which we will all stay in touch. It really is the best time of your life, an experience like no other. I want to go back again and again. I'm already thinking about taking a week in October, I know it's not long but it will be worth it."

Joanna - Feb 08

"My only regret was not staying longer! Even though I was only there for a week, I had so many experiences. The elephants are the most amazing and gentle creatures, and it was an honour to be so close to them and help them as well as some of the other wildlife. Everyone was so friendly and from all walks of life and every part of the world. On our day off we hopped into the back of a pick up truck, drove to the forest and watched the sunset, hiked to a waterall and saw wild gibbons...fabulous.

Really basic accomodation but that was a great experience! and the location in the middle of nowehere was amazing, with the lake and forest, and typically thai village and monastry down the hill..great to submerge yourself into that.

I expected the elephants to have a bit more freedom, but the conditions were so much better than where they came from. However, the placement exceeded my expectations..i loved it!

If you really want to make a difference, I would recommend the widlife centre more so than the elephant project, as there is more to do and you help so many animals. However, getting so close to the elephants was awesome and once-in-a-lifetime."

Penny - Feb 07

"I had an absolutely amazing time in Thailand on the 2 week Elephant Care package. To be so close to these magnificent animals was simply breathtaking. There are so many memories that I have taken back home with me; from the great people that I met to swimming with the Elephants in the lake in front of the centre. The local people are so friendly and welcome all the volunteers into their community with open arms. This has probably been the best holiday I've had (although I need another one to recover) and have recommended it to my friends. I was never into the typical beach holiday but this has sparked a new interest in me and I will always look at volunteer holidays in the future. Thanks for a great experience that will stay with me for a long time to come."

Jamie - Aug 07

"May I take this opportunity to say thankyou very much for arranging my time in Thailand on the Elephant Program. I had an amazing time and met some wonderful poeple, who will remain friends for life. The experience will always remain with me and I look forward to going back again."

Nina - Dec 06

"I had an amazing time! Thank you so much! The centre is amazing, and is situated on such a beautiful location. The elephants were so much fun to work with, its so good to see animals that have had such a bad time finally be happy. The mahouts were lovely and everyone was really welcoming. I am definitely looking to return next year. It was better than I imagined and I cant stop talking about it. Thank you for all your help before the trip, everything you advised me was spot on!"

Rebecca - Sep 06

"A fantastic experience – it was only a week long, but I felt so at home and really got a feeling for how the elephants behave in a nearly natural environment.

Very efficient as my application was very late. Very quick to make contact after news of the military coup, and made assurances as to safety of still going. I have done and will continue to recommend PoD to others. It was so easy to organise and was very good value for money. You take so much more away with you than an average holiday and hopefully you’re making a difference – however small."

Lucy - Mar 07

"Working with the elephants was really interesting and good fun especially as both of us are training to be vets. We both agreed that we could of spent all day in the lake with them!"

Leona - Oct 06

"I can honestly say that it was an absolute honour to be so close to such gentle majestic creatures and the mahouts were great fun too once we got them out of their shells. I'm not sure if I will get back to this part of Thailand again but those elephants were such a gift. And over the course of 2 weeks I was able to see their individual personalities. One thing they all have in common is a dislike of dogs. Which is unfortunate as there is a pack known as 'the elephant dogs' and they love to run with us in the jungle. Each elephant has a slightly different response when the dogs get too close but the most exciting/hair-raising event occurred when our pack ran into another pack and a big fight broke out. The snarling was less than 100ft ahead of us on the same road. All 3 elephants came to an emergency stop and the youngest (and most lively) started banging her trunk hard onto the road, really slapping it down, and then she started to trumpet loudly. And all the time we were yelling at our elephants to stop (just in case they were getting ready to charge off anywhere! and they were definitely thinking about it...). So now I have some very useful Thai language skills. I can tell a person/elephant to go forward or backwards, to come to me, and to lie down (in the lake!)."

Janice - Mar 07

"Most rewarding working with the elephants and also having opportunity to see the other animals in the sister placement the wildlife sanctuary. It was good to interact with the other volunteers from so many different countries."

Hannah - Sep 06

"I wanted to just e-mail to thank you for sorting out our holiday we had an absolutely amazing time. The elephants were great!"

Maryse - Aug 06

"It is a unique experience and one way of helping animals and the centre to stay open." - Maryse

Marine Conservation

Annette - Sep 09

"Thought I drop you a quick email to you now as i have been here 1 week, have settled in ok and having a really good time with both the dive centre and the conservation programme, building a buoyancy world at the moment. Trying to get the time as well to speak to different dive centres, but the time goes way too quick. Having a great time."

Debbie - Feb 09

"I had an excellent time, the accomodation was comfortable and well located near the dive school. The Ecological Marine Project that I participated in was taught profesionally by Chad. The whole experience has lead me to carry on voluteering with reef check australia and i am even moving to cairns so i can fit it round my job! I also cant wait to go back and help out Dev and Chad again in the future. My diving also improved greatly.

The team made a point of introducing themselves and the environment was so relaxing and friendly. After a few days you felt like you had been there for a long time.

The training I received during my time volunteering now enables me to collect data such as identification of 'indicator' species, different corals and their classification and diseases as well as various measuring and survey techniques on coral reefs. I am now able to practice this volunteering on the 'Great Barrier Reef'."

James - Feb 09

"I'd highly recommend this placement for any diver (current or prospective), or any student of biological sciences and ecology. I learnt a lot, had a really good time, and I hope that I contributed to the conservation effort."

Gina - Jul 08

"After traveling to Thailand for the first time, I was very amazed at how welcoming everyone in Koh Tao was. At the dive school, the location from where the marine conservation project is carried out, it felt like being adopted into their 'family' right from day one. This all made me feel very much like at home. From the activities that were involved in the project I learned so much, that it has made me become more confident and experienced as a scientist as well as a diver. Having never done any diving prior to my arriving in Thailand, I decided to extend my stay in Koh Tao as learn more in depth-diving and to continue helping further with the marine conservation project as well as all other activities organized by the dive school throughout the week.

Out of the three parts of marine conservation program: maintaining the biorock (artificial coral reef), mid-water nursery, data collection of the reefs and other activities such as the beach clean ups (on land as well as under water), I was most impressed by laying hands on maintaining the Biorock, an artificial reef. Everything was carried out underwater, so that we could put to practise our diving  experience......Fantastic combination of diving and its practical usage in marine conservation, something I can most certainly apply in my future life and that can help in the practical application side of my studies....

I would like to thank everyone esp. the PoD and the people in Thailand who made this unique, instructive and very joyful opportunity possible and I would like to recommend it to anyone from all ages to all types of backgrounds. Thanks."

Chloe - May 08

"Am pretty settled in now, the course is going really well, looked at the bio rock, coral nursery, done quite a few dives already and enjoyed them all, the vis is even getting better! I think this place is definitely better than at Sairee. Very chilled.  Have the weekend off now, so will relax and catch some sun!!"

Ariel - Aug 08

"I am having a blast and I dont want to leave!!!!!!!!"

Dog and Cat care

Frances - Mar 10

"I wanted to thank yourself, Alex and Erng for the help you gave me before and during my time on Koh PhaNgan.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my stay, I met some amazing people, and had the opportunity to help the stray animals, which was very, very rewarding.  I feel my experiences have enhanced myself as a person, and made me appreciate the importance of organisations such as the centre.  Being associated with this project for 6 months made me aware of how invaluable the work they do is for the island.  The transformation of many of the sick animals treated was so satisfying to witness."

Frances - Oct 09

"Everything is great.  Avril and Por are lovely people, and I am enjoying helping out at the clinic very much.  To be able to help animals is very important to me so this experience is wonderful!"

Carly - Dec 07

"Just wanted to let you know, i had a wicked time in Thailand and working with the guys at the centre was a real experience. Everyone was really nice and very helpful. I forgot to say goodbye to Subai, the whole leaving process became a bit of a rush. Could you pass on a big thank you to her. She was very helpful and introduced me to alot of very naughty thai food!

Thank you all again for the help and information received from PoD. I will definately be returning at some point."

Kirsty - Jan 07

"I volunteered my help at the centre in Jan 07 for a couple of months and can honestly say it is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences I have ever had. Having come from a solicitors in London I didn't have any experience in working with poorly animals but everybody at the clinic made me feel really welcome and I felt part of the team instantly.

The island is truly beautiful and the laid-back lifestyle highly addictive, but my most memorable high point by far was when one of the patients, a dog called Gem - who came in just after I started in such a sorry state, spread-eagled on the floor totally unable to walk at all - finally stood up on my final day at the clinic!! It was the best leaving present I could have hoped for and I felt so happy to have played a part in getting her strong again. I shall never ever forget the sight of her hobbling towards me on her shaky little legs, tail wagging!

If I ever got a few months off work again I would be back to the clinic in a flash to help out again - its hard work sometimes, hot and tiring but so rewarding to know the difference you're making to these animals' lives."

Keely - Mar 07

"I spent 5 months working as a clinic assistant at the centre on Koh Phangan - what an experience! I decided to apply for the placement at a time when I didnt really know what I was doing with myself and needed a change - I also wanted to meet new people - but I got so much more from it. Koh Phangan is a beautiful place - it has something for everybody - there are lovely tranquil areas that you can escape to, and there is also a huge party scene..the choice is yours! As a first time traveller, it seemed a very scary thing to do - but Alex and Jirapan are a great help and give you lots of advice..you are also met when you reach the Island so you are not left to fend off enthusiastic hotel reps! The PoD reps were brilliant and were more like friends by the end of my stay...as were the owners of Liberty bungalows...I was very sad to leave!

Working at the clinic was amazing..sometimes it was hard but the good times far outweighed any sad moments! The work itself was varied...initially there was alot of cleaning and watching - but the more time went on, the more I could help, learning from the dedicated nurses and doctors. I was really made to feel part of the team, and made some true friends - who I am still in touch with a year later! Its definitely something that I will do again and would recommend to anybody...I gained more confidence in 5 months than I have in my whole life. Dont let fear get in your way - you wont regret it!"

Tina - Jan 06

"Fabulous island to be living on, friendly population and good diversity of things to do. Liberty bungalow basic but with an atmosphere that was hard to find anywhere else on the island. Excellent food and excellent hostess. The Centre and animal care work: Brilliant! Loved every minute. If you love animals, dogs especially, and want to work in an environment where you can be with them all day - this is the place to be. Staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. I went to Koh Phangan on my own and found I had a ready made social life when I got there! I didn’t know what to expect but was really impressed with the dedication for Por and Shevaun and how easy it was to fit in. They do an incredible job in difficult circumstances. As a first time traveller I really appreciated being met on Samui and looked after until I started work. The info pack was also very welcome. I have been sharing my experience with friends and have indeed passed on PoD details. My enthusiastic stories of where I have been, seen and done have prompted people to consider doing something similar. THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!"

Lara-Sue - Apr 07

"I am really really really enjoying my time here thanks. The girls are lovely. Liberty are looking after me well too, thanks."

Louise - Oct 06

"Overall I got more out of my placement than I expected, I learnt new nursing skills and watched vets and nurses treat sick animals under very simple and hard conditions, the best bit is I actually had a big role to play in it all!! And felt really needed, and appreciated. I LOVED my placement! One of the most precious times I've had in all my life!"

Claire - Aug 05

"The place is beautiful and has managed to retain its Thai culture. The centre was very friendly, Avril and the girls were very helpful and I got to do more hands on work than I expected. Support great and became firm friends during my trip. Best accommodation on the island! Absolutely recommend PoD. It’s an amazing experience you will remember forever. And PoD makes you feel looked after and reassured if you need anything."

Shelley - Jun 05

"Fantastic, lots of support and help throughout. The packs were full of helpful hints and tips. Koh Phangan is beautiful not as touristy as Koh Samui and the people are wonderful. They work really hard and that shows with the small town constantly buzzing! The bungalows were basic clean and comfortable. The resort was amazing, the food fantastic. I miss them all terribly. They do amazing work with what they have at the centre and I admire all who work there full time. It’s small but practical. They do a fantastic job. Everyone and PoD have been wonderful."
